New Photos

I am greedy and selfish and I don’t like seeing someone else holding Dave’s photos. They are mine, mine, mine!

(OK, his, his, his, but I am very big on ‘with all my worldly goods I thee endow’! Which makes them mine, no? ;) )

Anyway, the point of this little rant, is that I have backed up Dave’s Flickr collection at a new domain:

Brisbane Photos

Here, you can see all your favourites (ok, my favourites!), like: Continue Reading »

Pancakes

A friend of ours lives in Sydney but has this odd fetish of spending his weekends in Brisbane.
We try to encourage him by offering him our spare room whenever he wants to fly up.
I’ve just dropped him at the airport to fly back, and thought I would report on what those wicked photographers got up to this weekend. Continue Reading »

Driving along…

I should write more here.

So, my car is in the garage today, getting new tyres (don’t ask about the flat yesterday, which I was fortunate to have a handy photographer with me to change it, as whoever did the tyres last tightened them wih a machine. Grrrr… ;) ), so we are driving down to pick it up. We *just* have time to pick the kids up on the way, if we don’t muck around. Continue Reading »

And the winner is!

I haven’t had a chance to write about it until now, but last weekend we found out who won the Esk Shire Photography Contest.

It was Dave.

I was so excited, it was all I could do to Continue Reading »

We’ve been doing the usual end-of-summer-holidays activities of getting uniforms, etc, etc ready.

As our youngest starts school this year (*sniff*) it was not only good but Absolutely Necessary to get some photos. Dave needs to do more work with portraits anyway. Continue Reading »

Midnight at the Beach

Well, not really midnight – they didn’t leave here until about 12:30am. Dave and Johnno went out last night to do some dark and dawn shots at Dickies Beach. (I sensibly stayed home and did that ’sleeping’ thing) Continue Reading »

Teenage Model

Our daughter is gorgeous, if I do say so myself (nobody tell her about this blog, ok?) so when she got her birthday presents from Grandma and Grandpa in the post today and I suggested that we should take some photos so Grandma could see how pretty she looked in her new jewellery, Dave immediately set up a proper photo shoot. Continue Reading »

The Pack Pony

Dave has been working hard at photos for the Canon competition – trying to think up photos from the bizarre collection of bits they sent out – some little, but sturdy, cardboard boxes, some cellophane, a balloon, some chalk and some spots. All these items are supposed to have separate, creative photos taken containing them.

I doubt I am allowed to tell you about the photos themselves, but I can say it has been a challenge for him. Continue Reading »

Esk Shire in a Day

So, I thought for a first instalment I would tell you about the run to Esk Shire.

Last month while we driving back from Mackay we stopped in Kilcoy for lunch. In the window was a poster for a photography competition that Esk Shire was running, attempting, we assume, to increase their tourist trade. Dave spotted this and took a photo of the poster for later consideration. “Valley of the Lakes Photographic Competition” it touted. Too much to resist – we made a photo run last Thursday. First Post

A blog – almost mandatory for a new site, wouldn’t you say?

David takes the photos – I criticise them. Seems like a fair division of work to me.

Anyway – I plan to write here giving a little more background on how David’s photos come about. Not the technical which-buttons-he-pressed-on-the-camera stuff, oh no, I don’t know anything about that – I’m thinking more along the lines of just how long I had to stand on tippy toe with the flash to get that great shot, what ungodly hour of the hour he made me get out of bed for a photoshoot and what terrible terrain I had to trudge across (no, I don’t carry the gear, but I have been known to carry a four year old…) to get to that ‘perfect site’.

Sound good? OK, read on.
